Liverpool's first six fixtures compared to Premier League rivals
Players and coaching staff alike at Liverpool have made it clear 2022/23 was not a vintage year for the Reds.
No Champions League football is a major blow for the Merseyside outfit, who ended the season in strong form but just left themselves too much to do as Manchester United and Newcastle held their nerve to finish in the top four.
Players like Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate have let their frustrations be known during the summer, but attention will soon turn to the opening games of the new season as Liverpool plot a resurgence and possibly even a title challenge.
Here's how they open the 2023/24 Premier League campaign compared to their top flight rivals.
Liverpool's first six fixtures
It's an interesting scope of teams Liverpool will face in the first month and a bit of the new Premier League season.
They'll start with a clash with Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea, who are something of an unknown quantity with a talented squad that produced god-awful performances in 2022/23, while Bournemouth will an early-season trip to Anfield hoping to avoid another 9-0 loss.
Newcastle and Aston Villa - competing in the Champions League and Europa Conference League respectively - then follow before a trip to Wolves and a home tie with ECL winners West Ham.

23/09/2023 / 15:00 | Liverpool v West Ham |
Man Utd's first six fixtures
Manchester United are plotting another season of progress under Erik ten Hag but the opening throws could produce up a defeat or two early on.
Wolves are in a bit of chaos and travel to Old Trafford on a Monday night first up before the Red Devils visit Tottenham on the second matchday.
Nottingham Forest should realistically leave Manchester with little to show for their efforts, but an away game at Arsenal followed by Brighton's visit could prove tricky for United.

23/09/2023 / 15:00 | Burnley v Man Utd |
Man City's first six fixtures
Liverpool were never in a position to derail Man City's treble bid, but watching Pep Guardiola's side steamroll their way to three trophies won't have been fun for the Reds.
The two sides don't meet until November, so if Liverpool get their act together that game could be billed as a pivotal one in the Premier League title race.
Before that, though, City visit Vincent Kompany's Burnley as the top flight champions take on the second division winners before Newcastle visit the Etihad. Another trip to a newly promoted team in Sheffield United is up next.
It's a pretty safe opening six games for City, with Fulham, West Ham and Nottingham Forest rounding off the set.

Everton's first six fixtures
Liverpool and Everton remain fierce Merseyside rivals as always, but the gap in quality is now much more pronounced than it has been at certain points in recent memory.
A better start than last season will be fundamental to the Toffees' outlook for the rest of the campaign; they only managed 14 points in their opening 15 games before the World Cup break.
They have winnable matches on paper to start 2023/24. Fulham visit Goodison Park on the opening weekend before Sean Dyche's side travel to Aston Villa and host Unai Emery's Aston Villa.
Dyche won his first game as Everton manager against Arsenal and the Gunners will visit Merseyside in mid September looking for retribution.

23/09/2023 / 15:00 | Brentford v Everton |
Arsenal's first six fixtures
Liverpool will want to take Arsenal's tag as 'closest to City' at the very least next season and the Gunners have some tough games as they look to build on a first good league finish under Mikel Arteta.
Clashes with Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace shouldn't prove too difficult before consecutive home games against Arsenal and Manchester United.
Arteta's side will be keen to avenge last season's loss at Goodison Park before hosting Tottenham in the north London derby; Spurs haven't won at the Emirates since 2010.
