The Liverpool games Andy Robertson will miss with shoulder injury
- Andy Robertson dislocated his shoulder during the international break with Scotland
- The full-back is expected to undergo surgery and is set to be sidelined for a lengthy period
- Liverpool are likely to be without Robertson for a significant number of games
Liverpool got off to a pretty good start to life without the injured Andy Robertson in the Merseyside derby, but Jurgen Klopp will have to get used to life without his first-choice left-back over the next few months.
Having suffered a dislocated shoulder on international duty with Scotland, Robertson will now almost certainly undergo surgery on a nasty injury after returning to Anfield.
Kostas Tsimikas deputised for the missing 29-year-old during Liverpool's 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday afternoon, but Robertson's absence will undoubtedly come as a huge blow to the Reds given his level of consistency over recent seasons.
With Robertson expected to be sidelined for some time, just how many games will the Scot miss for Liverpool?
How serious is Andy Robertson's injury?
Now requiring surgery on his shoulder issue, Jurgen Klopp admitted that Robertson would not feature again for the Reds for some time.
The Liverpool boss stated: "I think the decision will go towards surgery. A little chance we can try without but all experts say surgery will be the best for the long term and that means he's out for a while. We don't know exactly how long."
Any injury that requires surgery is naturally pretty serious and, despite Klopp not putting a specific timeframe on Robertson's recovery, it's expected that the left-back will miss approximately three months of football.
Therefore, it's highly likely that Robertson will not feature again for Liverpool in 2023, perhaps pencilling in a return at the beginning of next year.
What games will Andy Robertson miss for Liverpool?
Assuming that Robertson will be missing for exactly three months, he would return on January 12, 2024. In that time, depending on Liverpool's progress in cup competitions, the former Hull City defender could miss 19 games for the Reds.
This will be dependent on how Klopp's side perform in the Carabao Cup with a round of 16 tie against Bournemouth on the horizon. However, regardless of their progress, Robertson will miss some massive clashes.
This includes the remainder of Liverpool's Europa League group stage, as well as Premier League collisions with Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United, among others.
There is also the possibility that Robertson's recuperation takes longer than three months and he could feasibly miss well over 20 matches over the hectic winter period for Liverpool. However, Klopp and his staff will be keeping their fingers crossed that his recovery is speedy.
