Having made such a bright start to the Premier League season, Jurgen Klopp might regard the Europa League as an inconvinence at this stage.

The Reds are unbeaten through five league games, winning their last four, but they'll now travel to Linz, Austria ahead of their clash with West Ham United on Sunday.

Nevertheless, this competition does give Klopp the chance to hand minutes to fringe players, and several will be desperate to impress against LASK on Thursday. Here's how Liverpool could line up for the opening game of their Europa League campaign.

Darwin Nunez

GK: Caoimhín Kelleher - One of several positions likely to be rotated in midweek. Kelleher, who has proven serviceable in the past, should start all six group games.

RB: Joe Gomez - The first 45 minutes at Molineux weren't fun for Gomez, but he improved after the restart and Trent Alexander-Arnold's absence means he should get the nod again on Thursday.

CB: Ibrahima Konate - Klopp could opt for the returning Virgil van Dijk, but the German could also call upon Konate, who earned minutes off the bench at Wolves after missing some time through injury.

CB: Jarrell Quansah - The young centre-back has impressed at a senior level so far and he should earn plenty of minutes throughout Liverpool's Europa League campaign.

LB: Kostas Tsimikas - Andy Robertson has already played a lot of football this season, so Klopp will almost certainly rotate and bring in Tsimikas for his first start of 2023/24.

CM: Wataru Endo - An unused substitute at the weekend, this is a great chance for Endo to familiarise himself further with his new teammates.

CM: Ryan Gravenberch - The summer arrival will surely make his first Liverpool start in Linz. With the Reds' midfield bolstered by Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, the bulk of the Dutchman's minutes at the start of his Reds career will likely come in this competition.

CM: Harvey Elliott - The dynamic midfielder once again had an impact off the bench at Wolves as he had a big say in Liverpool's third goal which sealed all three points. Elliott will be looking to star in this competition for Klopp's side.

RW: Ben Doak - The young Scottish winger caught Klopp's eye in pre-season and he made Liverpool's 23-man 'A-List' squad for the group stage despite UEFA's strict rules. Doak's one to watch, that's for sure.

ST: Darwin Nunez - A long flight back home from South America meant Nunez started on the bench on Saturday, but he made a difference when he came on. He looks like he's going to be a crucial cog for Klopp this season, and this could be a rare Europa League start.

LW: Luis Diaz - Similar to Nunez, Diaz had an impact off the bench last time out. The Colombian could replace Diogo Jota in Klopp's attack on Thursday.
