Luka Modric has backed teammate Arda Guler to show his best to the Real Madrid fans when he finally makes his debut.
After undergoing knee surgery shortly after his arrival at the club this summer, Guler suffered a fresh setback which forced his back to the treatment table last month and he is still waiting to make his first appearance of the season.
Guler missed Turkey's international meeting with Modric and Croatia earlier this week, but is now back in training and working towards making his long-awaited debut.
Modric is keen to get to work with Guler and heaped praise on the 18-year-old after his return to training.
"I love him, he's a great kid. He has this eagerness to learn, to get better, to listen. He's a great talent," he said.
"Unfortunately, he got injured when he came to Madrid, then he recovered and maybe he wanted to force things to come back earlier because he wanted to show his talent to Madrid and got injured again.
"The other day I told him he needs to take things calmly, to go little by little, and that he's young so he has time to show his quality and his talent to Madrid fans.
"I wish him all the best. Hopefully now when he comes back he will start showing his quality but the most important thing about him is he's a great, great kid."
Madrid are back in action after the international break when they travel to face Sevilla, with fans hopeful of getting their first glance of the 18-year-old.
