Luton Town have secured their place in the 2022/23 Championship play-off final thanks to a 3-2 aggregate win over Sunderland.

Having lost the 2-1 at the Stadium of Light at the weekend, Rob Edwards' side went into their second leg clash at the social media-famous Kenilworth Road on Tuesday evening with a mountain to climb.

That mountain was quickly reduced to a molehill, however, inside 10 minutes when Gabriel Osho reacted quickly to a loose ball in the penalty area from a corner kick to stab home an aggregate leveller.

Luton then proceeded to dominate the remainder of the first half and deservedly grabbed a second goal in the 43rd minute through Tom Lockyer.

The centre-back would rise highest in the heart of the penalty box to head home a wonderful cross from Alfie Doughty from the right flank.

In the second half, the visitors press forward in the hopes of getting back into the game but it, ultimately, wasn't to be for the Black Cats.

Luton will now face either Coventry City or Middlesbrough in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 27th May. Coventry and Middlesbrough as set to play the second leg of their semi final on Wednesday evening, with the two sides locked level at 0-0 after a rather tepid first leg at the Coventry Buidling Society Arena.
