Lyon and Bayern Munich will meet at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Wednesday with a Champions League final spot at stake.

Les Gones are coming off that shock 3-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday, booking their place in the last four of the Champions league for just the second time in their history. An early goal from Maxwel Cornet was cancelled out by Kevin de Bruyne, before a late floury from Moussa Dembele sank the Citizens.

Bayern Munich became the first ever side to score eight in a Champions League knockout stage when they obliterated Barcelona 8-2 on Friday evening. Their destruction of La Blaugrana has solidified them as the overwhelming favourites to clinch since their first Champions League trophy since 2013.

Lyon have a clean bill of health for Wednesday night's tie, no knocks or suspensions were picked up in the quarter-final clash with City.

Right back Benjamin Pavard is unlikely to feature for Bayern, the French international picked up an ankle injury in training last month. Joshua Kimmich is likely to start at full back like he did to great effect against Barca.

Predicted Lineups

Lyon: Lopes; Denayer, Marcelo, Marcal; Dubois, Caqueret, Bruno, Aouar, Cornet; Depay, Dembele.

Bayern: Neuer; Kimmich, Boateng, Alaba, Davies; Goretzka, Thiago; Gnabry, Muller, Coutinho; Lewandowski.

Lyon returned to competitive action following the hiatus with an agonising penalty shootout defeat to PSG in the Coupe de La Ligue final. Defeat at the hands of Juventus followed, though a vital away goal sent them through to meet City in the quarter finals.

OL were under constant pressure throughout the match against the Citizens, but were clinical with their chances in what was an impressive display. Lyon will head into the tie as underdogs, though Rudi Garcia's side have overcome their status of pre-match outsiders in four of their last five Champions League wins.

On the contrary, Bayern are in a rampant run of form. Die Roten look incapable of losing under Hansi Flick. Bayern's last loss in a competitive match came against Borussia Monchengladbach in December last year. Flick's side are currently riding a whopping 19-game winning streak in all competitions. Their quarter final demolition of Barcelona has boosted their winning margin to an average of 3.44 in this season's Champions League.

Here's a look at how the two sides have fared in their last five outings.

Man City 1-3 Lyon (15/8)
Juventus 2-1 Lyon (7/8)

In a match-up of the competition's favourites against the rank outsiders, there can only be one outcome...even in this crazy year. Lyon have done magnificently to get this far, but Bayern are a team possessed at the moment.

Prediction: Lyon 1-4 Bayern Munich
