Man City interested in CFG-owned Girona star Savio
- Savio has impressed at Girona on loan from Troyes
- The winger is owned by the overarching City Football Group
- Brazilian talent being monitored by Man City
Manchester City are keeping tabs on Brazilian wide player Savio after an impressive start to the 2023/24 season with Girona, sources have confirmed to 90min.
Girona has been one of the surprise packages of European football this season, with the club - only re-promoted from Spain's second division iin 2022 - currently sitting top of La Liga ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona after gameweek 13.
The Catalan club based just outside of Barcelona are currently two points clear of second place Real Madrid thanks to a remarkable 11 wins from their opening 13 games. They headed into the November international break on the back of six wins on the bounce across all competitions.
Key to their remarkable form has been their star wide forward Savio. The 19-year-old has been a revelation since joining the club on loan from Ligue 2 side Troyes during the summer, tallying up eight goal contributions - four goals and four assists - so far this season.
That fantastic form has caught the eye of Manchester City, with 90min understanding that last season's treble winners are keeping a close eye on the Brazilian's progress in La Liga.
Of course, his registration is already owned by parent company City Football Group, which owns Manchester City, Troyes, Girona and many other clubs around the world. As such, any potential move for Savio across from northeast Spain to northwest Manchester would be rather straightforward.
CFG purchased a majority stake in Girona in 2017 and did similar with Troyes in 2020. Altogether, alongside the likes of New York City, Melbourne City and Palermo, there are 13 clubs in the stable.
Savio was initially signed by Troyes from Atletico Mineiro back in 2022 for a reported €6.5m. However his former club confirmed that the winger was, more accurately, purchased by the City Football Group, impressed by his form after breaking into the Brazilian side's senior squad in 2020.
In a recent interview with Marca, Savio admitted that, having been part of the CFG since 2022, he is keen to impress to join the ownership group's flagship club, which is Manchester City, in the future.
"I'm so happy at Girona, this is perfect place," he said. "The City Group is a very good project. I feel that City Group's project is first class. If I do well, Manchester City will want me."
