Manchester City will have the chance to jump up to second in the WSL table this weekend if they can get the better of West Ham at home.

Arsenal and Manchester United have played their weekend fixture early, with the latter winning 1-0 on Wednesday night. Chelsea are also not in action, with Champions League semi-final commitments temporarily taking over for both the Blues and the Gunners.

It leaves City as the only one of the top four in action. By the end of this one, they will have played a game more than Arsenal and two more than Chelsea, but will consider actual points on the board more valuable than games in hand should they secure a win.

Man City team news

Alanna Kennedy hasn't featured in the WSL since January but is working her way back to fitness following her latest injury setback.

Gareth Taylor has options to reshuffle at the back should he want to bring Leila Ouahabi back in, but the front six of Yui Hasegawa, Filippa Angeldahl, Chloe Kelly, Laura Coombs, Lauren Hemp and Khadija Shaw is likely to remain unchanged.

West Ham team news

Hammers boss Paul Konchesky could stick with the Grace Fisk-Lucy Parker partnership in defence after a clean sheet against Liverpool last time out.

Abbey-Leigh Stringer last featured in February, while Jessia Ziu is a long-term absentee.

Man City vs West Ham score prediction

Manchester City's 14-game unbeaten run in the WSL came to an end last time out prior to the international break after falling victim to an Arsenal comeback. But they will expect to return to winning ways here, especially with others not in action.

The reverse fixture in January was only decided by a single goal scored early in the second half by Shaw. But that marked the beginning of a pretty dire run of results for West Ham, who have kissed goodbye to a top half finish after not winning any of their last seven in the league.

CIty must be wary, noting their own struggles against the Hammers, who also held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw and frustrated Manchester United for 45 minutes at Old Trafford. But Gareth Taylor's team should still ultimately have the necessary quality to get the job done.

Prediction: Man City 2-0 West Ham
