Borussia Dortmund beat Manchester United 3-2 on Sunday night in Las Vegas, with a number of careless errors in their own half contributing to United's downfall at the Allegiant Stadium.
After an uneventful opening 20 minutes, United's Diogo Dalot broke the deadlock with a curling effort from outside the box, beating Gregor Kobel in the Dortmund goal and lifting the majority of the crowd inside the ground off of their seats.
Things looked to be going smoothly for Erik ten Hag's side until former Arsenal & PSV Eindhoven forward Donyell Malen scored twice in the space of two minutes, forcing the Red Devils to go in at the break behind.
The first of the two goals came when Edin Terzic switched Karim Adeyemi out to the right-hand side where he and Marcel Sabitzer combined to good effect. The ball broke kindly for Malen who was waiting to pounce having drifted in-field, and the Dutchman finished from close range.
Less than two minutes later, the Bundesliga outfit found themselves in front - capitalising on United's poor attempt to play out from the back. Victor Lindelof gave the ball away to Sabitzer, who left Old Trafford little over a month ago, and his pass inside found Malen in space where he cooly slotted past Tom Heaton in goal.
The lead was only to last seven minutes. Antony, who had come on as a substitute just before half time, produced a trademark finish from outside the penalty area, steering the ball into the far corner and drawing the game level.
At 2-2, United looked the most likely to go on and win it but another defensive error, this time from Aaron Wan-Bissaka, resulted in the Bundesliga outfit scoring what proved to be the winning goal 20 minutes from time.
Youssoufa Moukoko finished from close range within ten minutes of his introduction to score the winner after Julian Brandt and Marco Reus combined to tee up the opportunity.
Manchester United Player Ratings
GK: Tom Heaton - 5/10 - Has done a good job in pre-season of playing the 'Onana' role, preparing the team for his arrival. Might have gone long in the build up to Dortmund's second goal.
RB: Diogo Dalot - 7/10 - Scored the opening goal, a wonderful curling effort, and was one of United's stronger performers.
CB: Victor Lindelof - 4/10 - His loose pass gifted Dortmund their second goa;/
CB: Harry Maguire - 4/10 - Got a hard time from some of the United supporters given the speculation around his future and looked shaky on more than one occasion.
LB: Brandon Williams - 5/10 - Looked to invert from full-back at every opportunity, not sure it had the impact Ten Hag hoped for. Struggled when Adeyemi moved across to his part of the field.
CM: Scott McTominay - 5/10 - Worked hard like always does but the fact that's all that comes to mind says it all.
CM: Christian Eriksen - 5/10 - Seemed as though he was lacking half a yard of pace.
CM: Donny van de Beek - 5/10 - Technically got an assist, I guess. Generally, an uninspiring performance from the Dutchman.
RW: Omari Forson - 4/10 - Hauled off by Ten Hag before half-time, the boss gave him a talking to in front of the dug out and his only meaningful involvement was a square-up to Adeyemi for which he was booked.
ST: Jadon Sancho - 5/10 - Showed a couple of nice bits of skill and some sharp turns when dropping deep, struggled to execute the final pass on multiple occasions though.
LW: Facundo Pellistri - 5/10 - Caused the full-back some issues with his running. His decision making and end product in the final third however, was lacking.
Substitutes
Andre Onana - 7/10 - Made a great stop down to his left early in the second half before berating Harry Maguire for his defending in the lead-up.
Antony - 7/10 - A trademark finish from the Brazilian made it 2-2 early on in the second half.
Lisandro Martinez - 6/10 - Tidy in possession, not his usual combative self but the game lacked bite in general.

RB: Marius Wolf - 4/10 - Struggled to cope with Pellistri's runs down the flank, looked off the pace.
CB: Niklas Sule - 7/10 - Had a strong first half despite having to constantly sweep the spaces in behind Wolf at right-back.
CB: Mats Hummels - 5/10 - Struggled with Sancho's movement. Was caught in two minds whether to step out of the back when Sancho dropped deep.
LB: Julian Ryerson - 5/10 - Didn't look totally comfortable at left-back but important to note, he's a right-back by trade.
CM: Marcel Sabitzer - 6/10 - Assist for Dortmund's second goal, anticipating and intercepting Lindelof's pass before playing a pass inside to Malen for the finish. Replaced at half time.
CM: Emre Can - 5/10 - A steady presence in midfield.
CM: Julian Brandt - 5/10 - Didn't get on the ball anywhere near enough to have the kind of impact we all know he's capable of.
RW: Donyell Malen - 8/10 - Two goals in two minutes. Both cool finishes after he snatched at a chance earlier on in the first half.

LW: Karim Adeyemi - 7/10 - A little wasteful in front of goal at times, missed a great chance at the start of the second half, but a constant threat, more so when he switched over to the right-flank. Played an important role in Dortmund's first goal.
