Man Utd agree Sofyan Amrabat loan deal with option to buy
- United strike loan with buy option worth £8.5m initial fee
- Option to make the deal permanent will cost £17.1m with £4.3m in potential add ons
- Amrabat has been holding out for United move all summer
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Fiorentina to sign Sofyan Amrabat on loan, 90min understands.
United have been pursuing the Moroccan for a number of weeks, but have found the deal difficult to complete due to complications raising funds by selling squad players. United had planned to trim their squad after completing the signings of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund earlier this summer, but have struggled to sell players on permanent deals for significant fees.
However, an agreement has now been reached with the Serie A side on a loan with option to buy following negotiations this week.
90min understands United will pay a loan fee of around £8.5m, and they can trigger a permanent deal next summer for an additional £17.1m if they wish to sign the 27-year-old on a permanent basis. If that transfer is triggered, United would also commit to paying up to £4.3m in potential add-ons.
Amrabat has been holding out to join United for most of the summer, shunning interest from a number of other clubs in anticipation of a move to Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag has made it clear to the club for a number of months that he needs an extra defensive presence in midfield, and United's struggles in the early weeks of the season have reflected the need.

It's understood Amrabat will now fly to Manchester to complete the deal ahead of the 11pm deadline on Friday night, though the registration window has been missed for the weekend's fixture at Arsenal.
Ten Hag has however confirmed that left back Sergio Reguilon has trained with the team on Friday after an agreement for a season-long loan transfer from Tottenham was reached. Reguilon will be available for the match at Arsenal and Altay Bayindir, a goalkeeper signed from Fenerbahce on Friday, will also be available.
Elsewhere, United are considering allowing Mason Greenwood to leave the club on a free transfer, while Donny van de Beek could also leave. Scott McTominay is also subject of interest from Fulham, who are looking for a replacement for Joao Palhinha - he is set to join Bayern Munich.
