Man Utd complete signing of Barcelona star Geyse
- Geyse has joined Manchester United from Barcelona
- Brazil international arrive with Champions League winning experience
- United remain in taks to sign international teammate Kerolin
Manchester United have signed Brazil forward Geyse from Barcelona on a permanent transfer ahead of a crunch 2023/24 season in the WSL and Women’s Champions League.
Geyse, who represented Brazil at the World Cup and impressed against England in the Women's Finalissima at Wembley April, brings vital quality and experience to the squad as a Champions League winner with Barcelona in June.
The 25-year-old arrives in Manchester in the same summer that Alessia Russo departed on a free transfer for Arsenal and will be expected to command a regular starting role at United, having been in Barcelona’s starting XI for only 17 of 30 Liga F games last season.
"I am very happy to be here. Signing for United has been a very special day for me and my family. I am very grateful for this opportunity and thank everyone for making it happen," Geyse said.
United boss Marc Skinner added: "Geyse is a proven winner on the biggest stages. She has won both domestic and international honours and her winning mentality is an important addition to our team, ahead of a busy campaign across several important competitions.
"We are delighted to welcome Geyse into our Manchester United family and cannot wait to see her excite our wonderful fans."
Geyse is the second new arrival of the summer following centre-back Gemma Evans. United also remain in talks to sign Brazil international teammate Kerolin from North Carolina Courage.
Head of women's football Polly Bancroft described the "unquestionable" pedigree that Geyse brings to the squad and hopes to see her "elevate our playing squad to another level".
