Man Utd Confirm Season Ticket Refunds for Remaining 2019/20 Home Games
Manchester United have written to season ticket holders confirming they will be issuing refunds for the four outstanding Premier League home fixtures, as well as the return leg of the Europa League last 16 tie against LASK.
If the 2019/20 Premier League season resumes, which is being targeted for June, games will have to be played behind closed doors to comply with social distancing guidelines.
“While the Premier League and other football authorities have yet to finalise the arrangements to resume season 2019/20, following the publication of the UK government’s recovery strategy on May 11, it is now widely accepted that any matches that may take place will only do so behind closed doors,” United’s address to season ticket holders read.
United wish to ‘encourage’ fans to support the team from the safety of their own homes.
“We are committed to refunding ticket costs for these games and want to make the process as easy as possible for all supporters,” the club explained.
“Please note, UEFA have not yet advised whether or not our home game against LASK in the Europa League will still go ahead. However, if you have purchased a ticket for this game and the game is cancelled or played behind closed doors, we will automatically refund the card used to pay.”
Fans renewing their season ticket for next season can receive the four-game refund as a discount on their renewal price.
The season ticket renewal process for 2020/21 will become clearer once more information is known about when the campaign might begin. Current Premier League targets are thought to be focusing on a date in late August or early September to ensure minimal ongoing delays and disruption.
Premier League clubs on Monday voted unanimously in favour of players returning to training grounds to work in small groups of no larger than five. This is still the first step of the process and contact training remains prohibited for the time being.
