Man Utd 'fear Antony has aggravated ankle injury' from 2022
By Tom Gott
Manchester United are fearful that Antony may have aggravated the ankle injury which derailed his end to the 2021/22 season.
Antony managed just half an hour of the 4-1 win over Chelsea before leaving the pitch on a stretcher, having injured his ankle in a challenge from Trevoh Chalobah which had seemed fairly innocuous.
After the game, manager Erik ten Hag admitted he did not know the full diagnosis of Antony's injury but confessed the Brazilian looks to have picked up a 'serious' problem which could put his involvement in the upcoming FA Cup final at risk.
Now, BBC Sport state that United chiefs are fearful that Antony may have aggravated the same injury which he suffered towards the end of his final season with Ajax which kept him out for over two months.

What happened with Antony's injury in 2022?
Antony, then playing under Ten Hag at Ajax, injured his ankle during a 3-2 win over Feyenoord on March 20, 2022. He played the full 90 minutes but entered the press room on crutches after the game, and so it came as a surprise to see him called up for Brazil duty for the following week.
The winger actually started for Brazil against Bolivia and managed 77 minutes before a kick to the same ankle saw him forced off on a stretcher. The Brazilian FA did not fear a serious injury and Ten Hag himself even said he thought it was little more than 'a kick'.
Scans back in Amsterdam, however, revealed the damage was far more serious. Antony was initially ruled out for the rest of April but would not actually play for Ajax again that season, missing the remainder of the campaign and even the start of Ajax's pre-season as Antony's absence dragged over into July.
Antony did return for the current season and has largely avoided injury in Manchester, missing just a handful of weeks with various issues, but there are concerns that this ankle problem could be something more serious.
