Man Utd keen to send James Garner to Premier League team next season
Manchester United are considering sending midfielder James Garner out on loan next season to a Premier League side.
The young English midfielder joined Watford on loan at the start of the season and impressed early in his Hornets career, only to find himself out of the side after mid-season managerial change.
Due to a lack of playing time, Garner cut short his spell at Vicarage Road and instead signed with Nottingham Forest for the remainder of the campaign. He has been excellent since signing with Chris Houghton's side and many have spoken about whether or not he could potentially break into the Manchester United squad next season.
According to The Athletic though, the club are looking into loaning him out once again for the 2021/22 campaign, but to a Premier League club instead.
Before making a final decision on his future however, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to take a long look at the 20-year-old in training with the prospect of having him involved with the first-team.
Garner is a deep-lying midfielder who has operated brilliantly in a 4-2-3-1 formation at the City Ground, as one of the two in a pivot. His playing style is eerily similar to that of United's assistant coach Michael Carrick, with excellent ball retention and a gangly frame helping him to battle defensively too.
His profile is something that Manchester United fans are eager to have in their squad going forward, but a lack of first-team experience means next season is likely to come too soon for Garner.
