Stability ceases to exist on the red side of Manchester and Erik ten Hag's job status remains under scrutiny after Saturday's dismal 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

While their Premier League form has been mixed at best, United sit bottom of their Champions League group ahead of the final round of fixtures. They need a mini-miracle to progress alongside Bayern Munich from Group A, and Ten Hag is unlikely to welcome any players back to the fold for the Bundesliga giants' visit.

Here's how United could line up in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

GK: Andre Onana - Bayern enjoyed their outing against Onana last time out, and the Cameroonian international, who endured a horror outing at Galatasaray, is expected to be busy at Old Trafford.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka - Wan-Bissaka is surely a must-start in midweek given the one-on-one proficiency of Bayern's wingers.

CB: Harry Maguire - The Premier League's November Player of the Month is now a shoo-in at the heart of United's backline.

CB: Luke Shaw - With Victor Lindelof potentially sidelined and Raphael Varane well and truly out of favour, Shaw could start at centre-back alongside his compatriot for a duel with Harry Kane. Will need to up his game after a poor showing against Bournemouth.

LB: Diogo Dalot - If Shaw drifts centrally again, it's a toss-up betwen Dalot and Sergio Reguilon for the left-back berth. The former might have more success defending Leroy Sane from cutting infield.

CM: Soyan Amrabat - United are still without a couple of pivot midfielders which means the pretty unimpressive Moroccan will aim to provide some midfield stability against Bayern.

CM: Scott McTominay - After his match-winning display against Chelsea, the Scot struggled at the weekend but that shouldn't deter Ten Hag from retaining his faith in McTominay.

RM: Antony - The Brazilian has become more prominent since the November break and he'll likely continue his run in the team on Tuesday.

AM: Bruno Fernandes - United's chief creator stupidly got himself suspended for the trip to Anfield next week, but he's still available for Bayern's visit.

LM: Marcus Rashford - Ten Hag wisely took Rashford out of the limelight in United's two outings, but he could return the Englishman, undoubtedly devastating on his day, to the starting XI on Tuesday for this crucial fixture.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund - While Hojlund is yet to ignite in the Premier League, the Dane is United's top scorer in this competition, scoring five in as many games.
