Manchester United have announced that Amad Diallo will miss the beginning of the 2023/24 season due to a knee injury.
The young Ivorian enjoyed a stellar 2022/23 campaign on loan at Championship side Sunderland, leading them to an unlikely play-off place. The Black Cats were beaten in the semi-finals by eventual winners Luton Town.
Amad began pre-season back in Erik ten Hag's first team and played in three friendlies, while 90min understands he was the subject of loan interest from Leicester City.
However, he is now set to stay at Old Trafford for the first part of the season after being sidelined with a knee problem, with Man Utd unable to put a timescale on his return as of yet.

A club statement read: "Manchester United winger Amad will miss the first part of the Premier League season.
"The 21-year-old sustained a knee injury during the tour of the United States that is going to keep him out of action.
"It is a blow to the youngster's hopes of making his mark, after being involved in the earlier stages of our pre-season campaign.
"Amad is, of course, sidelined for this weekend's double-header against Lens at Old Trafford and Athletic Club in Dublin, with both games live on MUTV.
"The Ivory Coast international scored in the game against Rayo Vallecano in 2022 when we also had back-to-back friendlies on a Saturday and Sunday.
"Unfortunately, he has also been ruled out of the first part of the 2023/24 campaign, and we await further details on his estimated recovery date, with the home league clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers up first for Erik ten Hag's Reds on Monday 14 August."
