Man Utd set to sign Brazil forward Geyse
- Geyse set to join Man Utd from Barcelona
- Brazil forward won the Champions League last season
- International teammate Kerolin also getting closer to move
Manchester United are set to sign Brazil forward Geyse from Barcelona, 90min understands.
Marc Skinner's team finished second in the WSL in 2022/23 to qualify for the Champions League for the first time, in addition to reaching a maiden FA Cup final, but have seen joint top scorer Alessia Russo leave the club on a free transfer in the months since.
The United boss spoke in the closing stages of last season about the need to supplement the squad with new recruits, rather than engage in any sort of major overhaul.
"I think I'm delivering what we can on the field and I believe the club are going to deliver what we need off the field. We have conversations and we're talking to good players that are of the highest level," Skinner said in the wake of securing a top three WSL finish.
As was the case last summer, United's early transfer window business has been primarily focused on player departures, before an expected flurry of new arrivals. Last year, it ended up being seven.

Experienced WSL defender Gemma Evans has already completed a free transfer after leaving Reading, with Geyse now set to be the first major acquisition of the summer.
The Brazilian, who impressed against England in the Women's Finalissima at Wembley in April, was present at Old Trafford on both Monday night, during the men's team's opening Premier League game against Wolves, and Tuesday morning to iron out her arrival.
Geyse spent only one season at Barcelona after joining from Madrid CFF. She started 17 of the club's 17 Liga F fixtures, but rarely completed 90 minutes amid stiff competition and scored six goals. The 25-year-old thrived in the Champions League, ultimately picking up a winner's medal, having scored four goals and assisting five – including against Chelsea in the semi-final – in 10 appearances.
United are also still in talks with North Carolina courage over a deal to sign fellow Brazilian attacker Kerolin. She is understood to be open to the move and is represented by the same agency as Geyse. The 23-year-old is already close with United forward Ivana Ferreira Fuso from international duty.
United players not on World Cup duty this summer returned to pre-season training last week, with the 2023/24 WSL season to begin on Sunday 1 October. The club will enter the Champions League at the second qualifying round, which is to be played over two legs 10/11 October and 18/19 October.
