Man Utd star named in Europa League team of the season
Manchester United's Marcus Rashford has been named in the 2022/23 UEFA Europa League team of the season.
The Red Devils were knocked out of the competition by eventual winners Sevilla in the quarter-finals, but Rashford's six goals in nine Europa League games were enough to him a place in the XI. The forward's most memorable performance in the competition undoubtedly came against Barcelona at Camp Nou, where he'd bag a goal that'd help United knock out the Catalan club.
Ex-Manchester United defender Chris Smalling and midfielder Nemanja Matic were two of eight finalists who were named in the team of the season. Smalling and Matic, now both of AS Roma, reached the competition's final but were beaten on penalties by Sevilla.
Matic and Smalling are joined by teammates Paulo Dybala and Lorenzo Pellegrini in the team, while their final opposition Sevilla are represented in the team of the season by Bounou, Jesus Navas, Marcos Acuna and Ivan Ratikic.

Sevilla's triumph in the final was their seventh in the competition's history, having won it in 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2020 previously.
Rounding out the competition's best XI for the 2022/23 campaign was Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah and Union SG's Victor Boniface who finished as the Europa League's joint top goalscorer along with Marcus Rashford.
