Manchester United host Everton on Sunday in an historic WSL clash at Old Trafford.

United played their only previous game at the iconic stadium behind closed doors as a result of Covid-19 restrictions, but tens of thousands of fans are now expected at the Theatre of Dreams.

United remain firmly in the race for Champions League qualification, but have had their cushion over Manchester City eradicated in the hunt for third place after dropping points last time out against West Ham and seeing their rivals win their game in hand - against Everton as it happens.

That will put added pressure on them here, although their destiny is ultimately still in their own hands for the time being thanks to a slightly superior goal difference.

Everton, meanwhile, don't come into this one in the best form after successive 4-0 defeats to City in the WSL and FA Cup, preceded by a 3-0 loss to Chelsea. They did, however, win back-to-back league games against Aston Villa and Leicester before that.

United also must be wary after a late Simone Magill goal in the reverse fixture earlier in the season resulted in a 1-1 draw and dropped points, despite the overall mismatch in league position. A Continental Cup meeting between the two in December ended in a 2-0 United win.

This is everything you need to know about Sunday's game...

Man Utd team news

The returns of Signe Bruun and Hayley Ladd to the squad after recent injuries will be a boost for United. Maris Thorisdottir has also recovered from the illness that ruled her out against West Ham last time, while teenage starlet Carrie Jones is available as well.

Lucy Staniforth remains sidelined but there is hope she could return to action before the end of the season, while Kirsty Smith is also out. Aoife Mannion is in the early stages of ACL rehabilitation following successful surgery a few weeks ago.

Everton team news

After two heavy defeats in a row, Everton switched up their formation to a 5-4-1 against Manchester City in midweek, but were still on the receiving end of another one-sided scoreline. It will be interesting to see whether interim boss Chris Roberts perseveres or reverts to 4-2-3-1.

There could also be changes, with Toni Duggan, Izzy Christiansen, Kenza Dali and Poppy Pattinson all vying for starts after appearing off the bench a few days ago.

Man Utd vs Everton score prediction

United boss Marc Skinner has expressed wariness of Everton, citing the individual quality of a number of players in their squad, but he will be well aware this side is expected to win this one.

"Everton can come here, if we’re not 100% focused, and absolutely be in the same contention as us in any moment of this game. We have to be very understanding of this wonderful occasion, but it’s business for us," Skinner has warned in the build up.

He is right to be cautious, having seen the Toffees snatch a late point off his team back in November. But Everton's difficult recent run of results and inferior league position cannot be ignored, while the bounce and buzz of the occasion should work in the home side's favour.

Prediction: Man Utd 4-1 Everton
