Manchester City host Manchester United at the Academy Stadium on Sunday, with both local pride and a place in next season's Champions League on the line.

United currently occupy the final European spot and can open up an eight-point gap between themselves and City with victory - something they have never pulled off against their rivals in the WSL. A win for the hosts will reduce the deficit to just two points.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the blockbuster clash.

Manchester City vs Manchester United score prediction

Whatever the competition, wherever the location, the Manchester derby has always guaranteed goals, drama and entertainment - be it the three goals in the space of seven minutes in this season's 2-2 draw in the WSL, or the breathless 3-2 FA Cup win for City during the 2019/20 campaign. Caroline Weir is already starting to singlehandedly put together a back catalogue of stunning solo goals in the fixture.

City have seen an upturn in fortunes following the return of key personnel from injury, but United are also in a strong run of form, taking 13 points from a possible 15 since their last WSL defeat. We predict more drama, more goals but ultimately nothing to separate the two sides on Sunday.

Score prediction: Manchester City 2-2 Manchester United
