Manchester United travel to Goodison Park to face Everton in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

The personnel getting splinters on the bench have been more potent than Manchester United's starters recently. Erik ten Hag's substitutes have scored the team's last five goals across all competitions - the club's longest stretch in the Premier League era.

Here's the XI Ten Hag may deploy as a smokescreen before sending on his super subs.

1. Manchester United XI (4-2-3-1)

GK: David De Gea - The former Spanish number one hasn't kept a clean sheet in any of his last eight appearances against Everton.

RB: Diogo Dalot - His former coach Luis Travessa has described Dalot's commitment to a professional lifestyle as "invisible training".

CB: Victor Lindelof - In the summer of 2021, Lindelof chased down a thief to retrieve the handbag of a 90-year-old woman. The victim, Kerstin, was more complimentary about Lindelof's physical prowess than many of his previous managers: "It seemed that he had fantastic strength and form."

CB: Lisandro Martinez - The eighth Argentinian to represent Manchester United's men's team considers one of his predecessors, Gabriel Heinze, to be his "idol".

LB: Luke Shaw - Ten Hag rejigged his left flank to overcome a scare against Omonia Nicosia on Thursday. For the second match on the spin, Shaw was introduced at half-time, providing another positive impact which may earn him a starting berth this weekend.

CM: Casemiro - His actual name is Casimiro but the five-time Champions League winner has played under Casemiro since there was a misprint on the team sheet for his debut which went so well he stuck with it.

CM: Christian Eriksen - The Dane is unbeaten in his 13 career appearances against Everton, scoring four goals and creating another in his last six meetings with the Toffees.

AM: Bruno Fernandes - According to Manchester United's forceful midfielder: “Confidence in football is not everything but almost everything.”

RW: Antony - The Brazilian could become the first Manchester United player to ever score in each of his first three Premier League games for the club.

ST: Marcus Rashford - The fleet-footed forward has never scored against Everton, drawing a blank 13 times - the longest goalless streak against one club in Rashford's career.

LW: Jadon Sancho - While Ten Hag continues to be "careful" with Anthony Martial, Sancho's spot in the front three may be preserved.
