Manchester United may have put their Europa League campaign at risk by allowing several first team players to go abroad on holiday.

United managed to secure a top four with a 2-0 win over Leicester on the final day of the season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad were afforded some time off prior to their European commitments resuming in August.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Nemanja Matic, Victor Lindelof and Odion Ighalo are among the players to have jetted off after the end of the domestic season, despite the evolving nature of quarantine restrictions across the globe.

Most recently, the UK re-imposed a 14-day quarantine restrictions on all passengers arriving from Spain following a spike in COVID-19 cases in the country and similar regulations could be passed for other nations in the coming weeks.

The second leg of United's round of 16 Europa League tie against LASK Linz is on 5 August and although they are 5-0 up on aggregate, players forced to quarantine for two weeks would miss the fixture.

They could also miss out on the quarter finals, which are set to be played on 10 August – with the semi finals scheduled for 16/17 August and the final pencilled in for 21 August. All games are currently set to be played in Cologne but this is subject to change. Germany has also experienced a coronavirus spike and UEFA insists that it will keep clubs updated as the situation develops.

The Red Devils squad are due to report back to training on Friday and the club insist that no players travelled to countries on the club's 'red list' with a high chance of quarantine restrictions being imposed.
