Tromso have confirmed the departure of teenage prodigy Isak Hansen-Aaroen to Manchester United.

Hansen-Aaroen is highly rated and made his first-team debut aged 15 years and 319 days, becoming the youngest person to ever play for the club.

The teenager made six appearances for second-tier table-toppers Tromso and has three caps for Norway's Under-16s under his belt. He's set to be the first Norwegian since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to represent the Red Devils and is expected to join up with the Under-18's side next season.

United reached an agreement with Tromso for the services of Hansen-Aaroen last year but waited until the player turned 16 before formally confirming the deal.

In a heartfelt statement regarding the 16-year-old's departure, Tromso wrote (via the Evening Standard): "A wonderful person. A unique football talent. Who just loves to play football now.

"From Fløya to TIL as a junior, into the academy as a 10-year-old, learns at the TIL school and debut for the first team as a 15-year-old. Assist in his last match for Tromsø IL, this time.

"Thank you so much for the last ten years and good luck in Manchester United and on in your career. We hope you have a great time, see you soon."

Tromso assistant Lars Petter Andressen, meanwhile, added: "I wish he [Hansen-Aaroen] could be here and contribute to the season, but we understand that they want him there."

The young Norwegian also enjoyed trials at Liverpool and Everton before opting for United - with the influence of compatriot Solksjaer understood to be a major factor in the teenager's decision.

Hansen-Aaroen is set to join former La Masia student Marc Jurado as part of the club's fresh academy intake for next season. United were able to sign the highly-regarded Spaniard on a free transfer after he rejected a professional contract at Barcelona.
