Last season marked the first time that Manchester United and Leeds had faced in a league match for 16 long years. The first meeting at Old Trafford in December ended in a one-sided 6-2 thrashing for the hosts, while the reverse game at Elland Road in April finished 0-0.

Overall, the clubs have met 109 times dating back to 1923, with the Manchester club leading with 47 wins to 26. Leeds pulled off a famous FA Cup win at Old Trafford in 2010 but have only beaten United twice in the Premier League since December 1995.

Man Utd vs Leeds score prediction

Manchester United showed in their final warm-up game against Everton that they are capable of punishing Premier League opposition not at their defensive best with an easy 4-0 win. Leeds, meanwhile conceded 12 in consecutive friendlies against Real Betis, Ajax and Villarreal.

There could be goals to be had at both ends and this one is more likely to be a repeat of the 6-2 in this very fixture at Old Trafford last December than the 0-0 at Elland Road more recently.

Prediction: Man Utd 4-2 Leeds
