Marcelo Bielsa set to sign one-year contract extension at Leeds

Marcelo Bielsa is expected to sign a one-year contract extension at Leeds, putting to bed any worries he could walk away when his current deal expires at the end of the season.

The Argentine tactician has transformed the club since taking the reins at Elland Road back in 2018, overseeing their promotion back to the Premier League in just his second season at the club and leading them to a healthy position in their maiden campaign back in the top flight.

Bielsa has refused to commit his long-term future to the club since arriving in England and has instead dealt only in one-year deals.

With no news forthcoming over a renewed deal at Elland Road, there were worries that the veteran boss could walk away from Leeds at the end of the season.

However, The Telegraph report that all is in hand and the club expect fresh terms to be penned in the coming weeks.

Leeds are said to be 'completely relaxed' over the situation and have 'no concerns' regarding Bielsa's future, while the report adds that the 65-year-old boss is happy in west Yorkshire and remains totally committed to the project he began little less than three years ago.

The former Athletic Club manager has refused to be drawn over speculation regarding his future in recent months, though discussions between himself and the Leeds hierarchy have been ongoing for a while now and a deal is expected to be tabled following the final game of the season.

The news will no doubt comes as music to the ears of Leeds fans who've enjoyed a stellar first campaign back in the Premier League under Bielsa's stewardship.

The Whites look well set for a top-half finish and have regularly been lauded for their free-flowing, expansive style of play.

Their remaining three outings see the them take on sides in the bottom half of the table, meaning a strong finish to the season could even see them finish above ninth placed Arsenal.
