Andre Villas-Boas dismissed as Marseille boss after offering to resign
By Ross Jackson

There's a common denominator among pretty much every single one of the disciples of Jose Mourinho - a pragmatic playing style you say? A relentless will to win perhaps? Both incorrect.
We are of course referring to their tendency to throw absolutely every conceivable toy out of their pram as soon as someone dares to even slightly undermine them.
Breaking | Marseille manager André Villas-Boas announces that he has offered his resignation this morning after the club signed Olivier Ntcham when he didn't want him. More follows.

The latest Mourinho disciple to nail his colours to the mast is Marseille boss Andre Villas-Boas - well, we say 'Marseille boss' - that's what he used to be referred to until he had a full on meltdown.
The former Chelsea manager has embarked on the most public of spats with the Ligue 1 side's hierarchy, deciding to announce during a press conference that he had offered his letter of resignation to the board following the January signing of Olivier Ntcham - a resignation they have since accepted.
Ntcham sealed a deadline day loan move to the Stade Velodrome from Sottish Premiership side Celtic, a deal which included Marseille having the option of making the move permanent in the summer for £4.4m.
Now, considering the turmoil Celtic find themselves in at the moment - what with manager Neil Lennon raging war against the entire Scottish media and city rivals Rangers basically laughing at their hopes of making it ten league titles in a row - Ntcham would have been forgiven for wearing a wry smile as he headed for the Celtic Park exit door.
Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Villas-Boas has been left furious at the decision to sanction the move, insisting the club have gone against his wishes in approving the deal, and the Portuguese tactician has subsequently resigned from the club.
"I just want to leave Marseille." he said in his press conference as reported by the Daily Express. "I am not asking anything else from the board. I haven't heard back from the board yet about my offer to resign."
Marseille currently sit ninth in Ligue 1 - 16 points off top spot having lost all of their last three games. But yeah, it'll be the arrival of Ntcham that's caused Villas-Boas to jump ship, we're sure of it. Good on you, Andre. You'd probably have won the league and not been sacked if they'd not done that.
