Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has insisted he talks to the club's owners and sporting directors on a daily basis ahead of the January transfer window.

The Argentine has struggled to make a huge difference at Stamford Bridge during his first half-season in charge of the Blues. Ahead of Saturday's trip to Luton Town, they sit tenth in the Premier League table, though they have at least advanced to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Having already spent £1bn under the ownership of BlueCo, Chelsea have been tipped to look towards the transfer market again in order to ease their on-field crises.

At a press conference prior to Chelsea's final game of 2023, Pochettino was asked whether he would have a say on incomings and outgoings.

"I cannot conceive the idea of not being involved," he replied. "It is not only about my advice, it is about sharing after six months together with the owners and sporting directors.

"It is very good communication. We talk every single day. Of course, the decision that we are going to take is because we all agree.

"If we detect something we need to improve, then we are more than open. We are very analytical and always analyse ourselves to help the club in the best way possible."

90min recently reported Chelsea are nearing a deal to bring in Under-17 World Cup star Pape Daouda Diong, while they are also leading the race to sign Palmeiras starlet Estevao.

In terms of outgoings, in-form midfielder Conor Gallagher could be sold if terms over a new contract are not agreed soon with his current deal up in 2025, while Chelsea are ready to cash in on left-back Ian Maatsen amid interest from Borussia Dortmund.
