Milan earned a late draw against Parma at San Siro on Sunday night, extending their lead the top of the Serie A table to three points.

The hosts lost defender Matteo Gabbia to injury in the opening few minutes of the game, with Pierre Kalulu thrown on after five minutes to make his Serie A debut. They were caught on the break not long after, with Hernani putting the visitors ahead after 12 minutes.

Stefano Pioli's side spent the rest of the first half dominating proceedings, but couldn't find a way through a resilient Parma defence and hit the woodwork on three separate occasions. The dominance continued after the break, but again a lapsed Milan were caught overcommitting and conceded on the counter, with Jasmin Kurtic extending Parma's lead entirely against the run of play.

Theo Hernandez immediately pulled the hosts back into the game from a header two minutes later and Milan continued to search for a second, but to no avail as Fabio Liverani's side remained incredibly disciplined in every area of the pitch for as long as they could.

Hakan Calhanoglu hit the woodwork three times on his own which looked like the summary of a frustrating night at the office for Milan, until Hernandez bagged a well taken second goal to level proceedings in the 91st minute and earn his side a point in a game they dominated.

Milan would have no doubt wanted three points from the game, but Parma made it difficult and coming back from behind twice must be used as inspiration moving forward.

MILAN

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Gianluigi Donnarumma (GK) - 5/10 - Donnarumma's hands were tied for both of Parma's goals, with his outfield colleagues letting him down and making things easy for opposition attackers. Mark your men, lads.

Davide Calabria (RB) - 4/10 - Confident going forward as usual, but Calabria was caught out positionally for each of Parma's two goals. Bad day at the office.

Matteo Gabbia (CB) - N/A - The young Italian was forced off with an injury after less than five minutes following a challenge from behind, unfortunately halting a promising run in the starting XI.

Alessio Romagnoli (CB) - 6/10 - Composed performance as usual from the 25-year-old considering he had Serie A debutant Kalulu alongside him for the bulk of the game.

Theo Hernandez (LB) - 9/10 - Hernandez continues to prove why he's one of the best attacking full backs in Europe. His teammates enable him to get forward and he repays the faith every time; two incredibly well taken goals saved his side.

2. Midfielders

Ismael Bennacer - 5/10 - Largely quiet but kept the tempo and covered well when the full backs bombed forward, but not quite at the races and departed after 75 minutes with an injury concern.

Franck Kessie (DM) - 4/10 -
Unusually poor performance from Kessie who wasn't as sharp with passing and also lacking defensively. A bad day at the office for the Ivorian is never helpful for his side.

Samu Castillejo (RW) - 6/10 - The Spaniard had the ball in the back of the net just after 20 minutes, but it was ruled out for a marginal offside. Made way at half time in order for Milan to introduce Rafael Leao.

Hakan Calhanoglu (AM) - 7/10 - Milan's brightest spark throughout the first half and the go-to man for creating chances. Rattled the woodwork three times and was spraying passes for fun, but it wasn't quite his evening.

Brahim Diaz (LW) - 5/10 - Hitting the crossbar with a curled effort towards the end of the first half was Diaz's only real highlight. Hooked at half time as a result.

3. Forward

Ante Rebic (ST) - 5/10 - Looked effective when dropping out of position and feeding in teammates, but was often swallowed by a sea of blue shirts when left inside the 18-yard box.

4. Substitutes

Pierre Kalulu - 6/10 - Confident cameo for Kalulu who was thrown in at the deep end for his Serie A debut. Little he could to do to stop Parma's goal and looked composed in possession.

Jens Petter Hauge - 5/10 - Most of Milan's attacks came down the opposite flank, meaning the bright 21-year-old couldn't get into the game from the bench

Rafael Leao - 6/10 - Only looked dangerous in patches from wide areas and perhaps would've carried more threat down the centre.

Sandro Tonali - 6/10
