Minnesota United star Emanuel Reynoso misses training camp
- Reynoso reportedly didn't show up to Minnesota training camp
- Argentina international tallied 10 G/As in half of the 2023 season
- 27-year-old also failed to report to pre-season activities last January
Minnesota United star midfielder Emanuel Reynoso has yet to report to pre-season training camp for the Western Conference club.
The Loons appear to be all over the place at the moment, dating back to the end of the 2023 MLS season after the club decided to part ways with their first-ever head coach Adrian Heath with two games remaining in the regular season.
Minnesota followed that up by naming Sean McAuley as the interim head coach for the final two games of season where they narrowly missed a postseason spot. In an interesting turn of events, McAuley was then retained by the Loons as the club's interim boss for the 2024 season -- until he chose to depart Minnesota to pursue other opportunities.
Following McAuley's departure, the club named fomer Minnesota United 2 coach Cameron Knowles as the interim boss for the upcoming season.
Now, Minnesota have another problem as their star player Reynoso hasn't shown up to the team's pre-season camp, according a report in the Pioneer Press from Andy Greder.
This isn't the first time this has happened with Reynoso and Minnesota, as the 27-year-old failed to report to training camp last January as well. The former Boca Juniors player was handed a suspension by MLS and missed Minnesota's first 11 games of the campaign. However, he was later cleared to return for his season debut that took place in early June.
Last year, Heath explained Reynoso was still in his native Argentina and dealing with personal matters before reporting to camp for the Loons. Reynoso went on to register six goals and four assists in 18 appearances -- or 1,369 minutes -- a solid tally given the circumstances.
Reynoso is under contract through the 2025 MLS season, and with this scenario happening again for a second straight season, a potential transfer wouldn't be a huge surprise as Greder explains in the report that there are clubs interested in the midfielder's services.
