Paris Saint-Germain are aiming to extend their sizeable lead at the top of Ligue 1 on Friday as they travel to Monaco.

The French giants are 11 points ahead of second-placed Brest at present and can move 16 away from their next closest challengers Monaco with victory this Friday. The current Ligue 1 champions enjoyed a pretty handsome 5-2 win last time these two met, although the principality side do have a strong record in this fixture in recent seasons.

PSG did actually drop points for only the second time in 2024 last weekend, needing a 97th-minute Goncalo Ramos penalty to avoid defeat at home to Rennes. Luis Enrique was subject to some criticism for his decision to substitute Kylian Mbappe with 25 minutes to play at Parc des Princes, but his side managed to earn a point regardless of the French superstar's absence.

Enrique doesn't have too many injuries to contend with ahead of Friday, but he may have one or two issues at centre-back.

Presnel Kimpembe is missing for the capital side, while Milan Skriniar and Marquinhos are both doubts with minor injury concerns. However, in the likes of Lucas Beraldo and Danilo Pereira, PSG do have some cover.

Layvin Kurzawa is also missing at left-back, while Sergio Rico is out with a head injury for the next month or so.

Monaco vs PSG score prediction

It's hard to bet against PSG this season given their sheer dominance in Ligue 1, with their recent form having been fantastic. Enrique's men have lost just once in 23 league matches this season, with five wins from their last seven in the French top flight.

Monaco have been strong scorers this season and will fancy themselves to unnerve a potentially injury-hit PSG backline, but their defensive issues will likely leave them exposed. Friday's hosts haven't kept a clean sheet in their last 12 matches in all competitions, not exactly the best omen ahead of Mbappe's visit.

Prediction: Monaco 1-3 PSG
