Newcastle will host Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as they try to rebuild their form for a late shot at Champions League qualification.
Eddie Howe's side have won two and drawn one of their last three games and they are 11 points away from fourth place. It would take something pretty special for them to make it into the top four, but all they can do is win their own matches and hope that the teams above them struggle.
Bournemouth have not started 2024 too well, but they will not make it easy for the Magpies. They beat them earlier in the season and Newcastle will likely be without both of their recognised strikers due to injury.
Here is the lineup that Howe is expected to choose for Newcastle vs Bournemouth.
Newcastle predicted lineup vs Bournemouth (4-3-3)
GK: Martin Dubravka - Nick Pope is still out of action so Martin Dubravka remains in goal. There seems to be no competition between him and Loris Karius.
RB: Kieran Trippier - His recent performances have been back towards the level that fans expected and that could be crucial to Newcastle's end of the season.
CB: Fabian Schar - He is up to three Premier League goals for the season now which is no bad thing for a central defender. His ability to burst into midfield is really important to Newcastle.
CB: Sven Botman - The Dutchman has not been setting the world alight since he returned from injury but he is certainly the best choice for Newcastle in this position.
LB: Dan Burn - While Dan Burn does a solid job at left-back, you'd think that Newcastle need to sign a quality conventional left-back if they are to take the next step.
CM: Lewis Miley - It almost goes under the radar just how well Lewis Miley has settled into the Newcastle midfield at the age of 17. His new contract means he can really work towards becoming a part of the team for a very long time.
CM: Bruno Guimaraes - His two goals against Nottingham Forest showcased why he is one of the best midfielders in the world right now, and he is the best player in this Newcastle team. They'll do well to keep him this summer as the links are building.
CM: Sean Longstaff - Sean Longstaff is in that unusual situation where he starts almost every match, but may well end up getting sold in the summer transfer window.
RW: Miguel Almiron - Realistically, Miguel Almiron is another player that could leave Newcastle in the summer. He has not played too well this season and Harvey Barnes is almost fit enough to begin starting games.
ST: Anthony Gordon - With Callum Wilson definitely missing out and Alexander Isak unlikely to be available, Anthony Gordon should play through the middle.
LW: Harvey Barnes - Barnes managed 30 minutes off the bench last week and might be thrown back into the starting lineup for this one.
