Newcastle predicted lineup vs Southampton - Carabao Cup
By Sean Walsh
Newcastle United have one foot in the 2023 Carabao Cup final.
The Magpies beat Southampton 1-0 at St Mary's last week in the first leg of their semi-final and will fancy their chances of booking a place at Wembley.
Eddie Howe has admitted a lack of FA Cup game at the weekend may have disrupted Newcastle's rhythm, but there's no doubt his men will be a little more refreshed heading into Tuesday's tie.
Here's how the hosts could line up...
Newcastle predicted lineup vs Southampton - Carabao Cup
GK: Nick Pope - Almost a lock for the Premier League Golden Glove and PFA Team of the Season at this rate, the big goof.
RB: Kieran Trippier - Somehow has taken his game to another level this season. His experience in big games with England, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid will prove useful here.
CB: Fabian Schar - Has finally turned into the player Football Manager promised he would be all those years ago. Racking up quite the goal collection, too.
CB: Sven Botman - Louis van Gaal, why you overlooked Botman for the Netherlands' World Cup squad will remain one of the winter's biggest mysteries.
LB: Dan Burn - Every chance the Sky Sports cameras ask Burn to do another funny dance if Newcastle progress.
DM: Bruno Guimaraes - Geordies will have breathed a collective sigh of relief that his injury earlier this month was not at all serious.
CM: Sean Longstaff - Gets the job done.
CM: Joe Willock - Starting to re-show the form which secured a permanent move to the club last season.
RW: Miguel Almiron - Seven games without a goal so the Paraguayan is well overdue one.
CF: Alexander Isak - Could come in for the misfiring Callum Wilson up top.
LW: Joelinton - Brazilian, only cost forty million, and Newcastle fans think he's brilliant.
