Back in 2018 we were treated to a fresh new Nike Nigeria collection that was so wild and vibrant that it disrupted mainstream culture.

Everything became about THAT kit.

It popped up in fashion shows, music videos and far beyond. Queues rolled around the corners of central London as people waited patiently outside Nike Town for their chance to cop the freshest kit in a decade. Three million people pre-ordered replica shirts, according to the Nigeria Football Federation, and the kit sold out in seconds; taking months to reappear.

So it was always going to take something wholly unique to compete with that sort of design innovation, but with the South Korea 2020 collection Nike are back to their boisterous best.

To finish off the South Korea collection Nike have dropped a vibrant, unique pair of Mercurial Superfly VII that pay homage to the new South Korea away kit.

The design which is featured throughout the collection is inspired by a sacred creature that is believed to be a guardian animal in Korean mythology, the white tiger; which is also a sign of courage and power - it says here.

If you're looking to pick up a pair, you are bang out of luck; these are only available in South Korea. So unless you're reading this from South East Asia or have some incredibly good connections overseas, you ain't getting a pair, sorry.

With these we can all agree on two things: 1. It's unfair that we can't get these in the UK and 2. These are hard. They might not be at the levels of Nigeria 2018, but they're not far off. There's plenty more to come from Nike in 2020 and we are gassed to see what comes. Watch out Liverpool.
