West Ham United's relegation battle continues against fellow strugglers Norwich City as the Hammer's travel to Carrow Road on Saturday lunchtime.

A Norwich defeat would consign the Canaries to a record fifth relegation from the Premier League, with three games to spare. Daniel Farke's side have only slipped further away from the rest of the division since football returned from the coronavirus-induced suspension of play.

David Moyes' side delivered a sizeable boost to their survival hopes with four points against Chelsea and Newcastle United in the space of four days last week, but the east Londoners remain well and truly embroiled in the fight against the drop.

Almost the entirety of Norwich's Premier League campaign has been plagued by injury. Grant Hanley, Sam Byram, Moritz Leitner and Christoph Zimmermann are sidelined, bound to a treatment room which has rarely been anything less than tightly packed.

One of the bright spots of the season, Todd Cantwell, may also miss out on Saturday's clash as the club continue to monitor the 22-year-old who sat out Tuesday's defeat to Watford.

West Ham will be without some of their own creative outlets as Felipe Anderson and Robert Snodgrass are both unavailable. Although, the weekend could see record signing Sébastien Haller make his first post-lockdown start after a hip injury.

Predicted Lineups

Norwich: Krul; Aarons, Klose, Godfrey, Lewis; Vrancic, McLean; Buendía, Stiepermann, Hernández; Pukki

West Ham: Fabianski; Fredericks, Diop, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Yarmolenko, Soucek, Rice, Bowen; Antonio, Haller

Recent Form

While they may be six points adrift at the foot of the table, Norwich's campaign has been peppered with some memorable afternoons - including the surprising victory over Manchester City and a run to the FA Cup quarter-finals. However, their form following football's return has all but quashed any faint hopes of a miraculous salvation.

Six games in the league and FA Cup have brought six defeats, seen them score two goals and concede 13. Emiliano Buendía's opener against Watford on Tuesday evening ended a run of seven hours and 53 minutes without a goal. Yet the lead lasted just six minutes, before Danny Welbeck's second half overhead kick consigned Norwich to a 23rd league loss of the season.

West Ham's surprise turnaround against Chelsea in early July may prove to be a decisive victory as points for the Premier League's bottom sides have been desperately scarce since the resumption of play. However, this trip to Norwich is the first in a favourable run of fixtures for the Hammers which includes meetings with Watford and Aston Villa on the season's final day.

Here's how each team has fared in their last five outings.

Norwich

Watford 2-1 Norwich (7/7)
Norwich 0-1 Brighton (4/7)
Arsenal 4-0 Norwich (1/7)
Norwich 1-2 Manchester United (27/6)
Norwich 0-1 Everton (24/6)

West Ham

West Ham 0-1 Burnley (8/7)
Newcastle 1-1 West Ham (5/7)
West Ham 3-2 Chelsea (1/7)
Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 West Ham (23/6)
West Ham 0-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers (20/6)

Prediction

Declan Rice - whose performances have garnered interest from Chelsea recently - claimed that his side could '100%' finish in the Premier League's top six at the start of November. Eight months later and their attention is firmly set on the division's bottom three, going into Saturday's match ensconced in 16th place.

West Ham forked out more than £100m over this season's transfer windows and still have the threat of relegation ominously hanging overhead. But for Norwich - who spent less than £8m in the same period - the drop is just one loss away, which may very well come this weekend.

Prediction: Norwich 0-1 West Ham
