A number of Manchester United players have put the blame for the club's indifferent form this season at the door of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - but the majority of the squad still back the Red Devils manager.

United crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday evening following a 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig, triggering more speculation about Solskjaer's future.

United had endured a tough start to the 2020/21 Premier League campaign, but found solace in Europe via excellent victories over PSG and Leipzig in their opening group stage fixtures.

However, while the Red Devils' league form has improved in recent weeks - Solskjaer's side will move to within two points of leaders Tottenham should they win their game in hand - they suffered three defeats in their final four Champions League group stage fixtures to tumble into the Europa League.

According to the Manchester Evening News, numerous United players 'feel Solskjaer is to blame' for the team's form this season, and playing for the club has developed into an 'easy ride'.

90min revealed in November that United had made fresh contact with the representatives of former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino following the Red Devils' slow start to the season.

However, Solskjaer's popularity among the United squad remains, with the 'majority' of the team continuing to back him despite results on the pitch.

The squad are also said to be of the opinion that United would 'benefit' from selling Paul Pogba. Such is his ability, the midfielder is still held in high regard at the club, but his closest friends at Old Trafford are aware of his desire to leave.

Pogba's agent Mino Raiola stirred the speculation pot once more earlier in the week, claiming his client is 'unhappy' at United and 'needs a change of scenery'.

Solskjaer responded on Wednesday by saying: “As soon as Paul’s agent realises this is a team sport and we work together, the better."
