Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo has revealed that he is keen to begin discussing a new deal with the club now that the season has resumed.

The former Porto boss has been nothing short of a revelation at Molineux since joining in 2017, taking the club from the Championship to a Europa League Round of 16 berth and within two points of a Champions League spot.

With his current contract set to expire in 2021, Nuno, a popular figure among Wolves supporters, would have no shortage of suitors if his deal ran down in the West Midlands.

With the Premier League now up and running again after it was temporarily suspended due to the spread of COVID-19, Nuno confirmed that he is prepared to start negotiating with Wolves about extending his stay in England.

“When you have something so serious [as coronavirus] to take care of, you don’t think of anything else,” said Nuno, via The Guardian.

“During this pandemic I think everybody worldwide was thinking about their own families. Now we are back we will have time to talk.”

When asked if he wanted to continue as Wolves boss, Nuno gave an answer sure to pacify Wolves supporters, confirming: "We are still under contract. We are here and it’s good to be here."

Wolves were clinical against West Ham as they looked to apply pressure on Chelsea in the race for that all-important Champions League spot, but Wolves fans may have been surprised to see Morgan Gibbs-White come on as a substitute. Gibbs-White had previously been in trouble for breaking lockdown regulations, but Nuno explained that he was happy to forgive the England Under-21 international.

“Everybody can make mistakes and everybody wants and needs a second chance. Morgan did something that, at his age and at a normal moment, would be so natural," he added.

“For me it was more a lack of self-protection and protecting others than an indiscipline act. So we dealt with that."
