Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Manchester United have their very own Tom Brady at the club, in the shape of veteran striker Edinson Cavani.

43-year old Brady joined Glazer family-owned Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 2020 and, on Sunday, will look to lead them to victory in Super Bowl LV against the Kansas City Chiefs.

And Solskjaer has compared the NFL star's influence and commitment he has shown at the Buccaneers to that of Cavani's at United since his arrival in October.

The Norwegian manager said (via Independent): "For me, the big learning from that is the Tom Brady story, what he does to keep going at such an age and to be so professional, he’s come into the club and brought them to the Super Bowl.

“It’s not him by himself of course but, we tell our young players to be at the top level it’s not just natural talent it’s dedication, hard work, focus. We’ve got the example of Edinson coming into our place and how much one player can influence a team.”

The 33-year-old Uruguayan joined the Red Devils on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the season and has since gone on to notch six goals - most recently scoring in Tuesday night's 9-0 victory over Southampton.

Solskjaer also revealed that he keeps an open dialogue with the Buccaneers, thanks to the Glazer family link: “I think when you operate at the top you try to widen your horizon and have a network you speak to and I’m very pleased for the Glazers and the owners that they play the Super Bowl this weekend."

While Brady and the Buccaneers will battle for the NFL's top prize on Sunday, Ole's mind will be firmly set on building upon their record-equalling win over the Saints (Southampton, not New Orleans) as they host Everton on Saturday night, looking to momentarily close the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City.
