Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek will miss Manchester United's Europa League game against Real Sociedad with injury, while also confirming that Paul Pogba will not return to the fray until March.

Both Cavani and Van de Beek started United's last game - a disappointing 1-1 draw with West Brom - while Pogba missed out with a hamstring problem.

The extent of the knock was revealed by Solskjaer in his pre-match press conference with the Norwegian stating that the midfielder would not return to the team until next month.

"Paul is recovering well," he said (via the club's website). "He's starting the treatment but it will still be a few weeks. He won't be playing in February, that's for sure, it's still a few weeks before we see Paul definitely."

This was not the only bad news as well. Solskjaer also confirmed that neither Cavani, nor Van de Beek had travelled to Turin for the game after picking up muscle strains. Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial are with the squad, but the pair's fitness will have to be assessed prior to kick off.

Speaking about the game itself, Solskjaer claimed that the draw had been tough on United.

"It's probably the hardest tie you could pick from our unseeded group. They have young and experienced players with lots of quality. We'll need to be at our best."

La Real started the La Liga season in red hot form and although they have tailed off more recently, they remain in the top five going into Thursday's game.

Former United youngster Adnan Januzaj is contention for Imanol Alguacil's side, as is Manchester City legend David Silva. Highly-rated forward Mikel Oyarzabal could also play after returning from injury last weekend.
