Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Urges Manchester United to Consider His Long Term Vision

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged the Manchester United board to consider his long term vision as pressure mounts regarding his future.

United will have got off to their worst start in Premier League history if they fail to beat Everton on Saturday - bettering last season's current record effort of nine points from their opening seven games.

Despite United's patchy league form, the Champions League had been a source of solace after Solskjaer masterminded impressive victories over PSG and RB Leipzig - but the Red Devils suffered an embarrassing defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir in the competition on Wednesday evening

United have since been linked with Mauricio Pochettino, and 90min understands the club have made contact with the former Tottenham manager's representatives.

However, Solskjaer has implored the United board not to make any knee jerk decisions and consider his big picture plans for the club.

“I am going to say all my conversations with the club have been planning long term,” Solskjaer said [via the Telegraph]. “Of course we want results short term but I’ve had positive, good dialogue with the plans we have put in place. We have planted a seed, the tree is growing.

“Some clubs just rip up that tree and see if it is still growing and see if it is still getting water underneath.

“For me, I have had a backing all the way since I’ve come in on the bigger picture. And the club needs to look at the bigger picture, we can’t go thinking and reacting to one or two results, we have got to look further back and what is the direction we are going?

“We still have a plan in place and you are proactive and you continue that plan. Of course, some results and performances need a different reaction to what maybe you’ve planned.”
