Orlando City SC have added defender Alex Freeman to their roster, signing the player to a homegrown contract through the 2025 season with a club option for 2026.

“Alex is an exciting young player for us and another important example of hard work and dedication producing results,” general manager and EVP of soccer operations Luiz Muzzi said in a release.

“Having him in the first team group for training on a regular basis and the opportunity to get consistent minutes in MLS NEXT Pro should create a great environment for him to develop his game even further than he already has.”

Freeman made 30 appearances for Orlando’s youth team, winning the MLS Next Cup Under-17 Championship in 2021 with the side. He recorded eight goals and 15 assists during their title run.

The defender now stands as the sixth homegrown player on the team’s roster, alongside defenders Michael Halliday and Thomas Williams.

The Florida side has seen a busy offseason, bringing in Facundo Torres as a Young Designated Player among its signings.

Orlando kicks off the 2022 MLS season on February 27 when hosting CF Montreal at Exploria Stadium.
