Panini announce first ever Barclays WSL sticker collection
- First ever Barclays WSL sticker collection to go on sale in December 2023
- Panini have had success with women's international tournaments
- WSL set for another big season off the back of Women's World Cup
Panini and the FA have joined forces to create the first ever official sticker collection for the Barclays Women's Super League as the popularity of the women's game continues to grow.
Following on from Euro 2022, women's football experienced another watershed moment over the summer thanks to a successful World Cup. The WSL was already the most represented professional league at the tournament, having experienced a 170% growth in attendances year on year from 2021/22 into 2022/23. This season promises another big spike after England reached the final.
Panini has previously had success with sticker collections for international women's tournaments, but the world leader for published collectibles is entering the club game too.
All 12 WSL teams will feature, with nearly 350 stickers – including must-have shinies – to collect in total. The collection will go on sale in December 2023 and starter packs will be available that provide the album and five packets of stickers to get going.
"This is such a special moment for us at Panini, having the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the growth of the women's game through the first ever Barclays Women's Super League Official Sticker Collection!" said Katie Gritt, Panini's head of marketing for sport.
"We are extremely proud of our longstanding relationship with The FA and our heritage in celebrating iconic moments through our collections, further cementing Panini in football history.
"We couldn't be prouder of this collection and what it represents; the phenomenal growth and success of these incredible women, and we look forward to supporting the continued growth of the women's game through our Barclays WSL collections."
