Paris Saint-Germain responded to their humiliating Champions League exit with a 3-0 win over Bordeaux on a tense afternoon in the French capital.

Home fans heckled and jeered both Neymar and Lionel Messi from the off after their tragic performances in Wednesday's 3-1 loss at Real Madrid, while there were plenty of chants calling for club 'leaders' to resign.

Nonetheless, Mauricio Pochettino's men put this week's woes behind them to secure an emphatic victory against Ligue 1's basement dwellers.

Bordeaux nearly took a shock lead inside 40 seconds when Remi Oudin tested the returning Keylor Navas from range, and Jean Onana's free header from the following corner bounced just wide of the post.

But despite looking the weaker side in the opening exchanges, PSG took the lead midway through the first half. Messi's square ball was neatly rebounded by Georginio Wijnaldum into the path of Kylian Mbappe, who fired into the roof of the net.

The hosts doubled their advantage just after the break when Messi's defence-splitting pass found Achraf Hakimi, and he laid it on a plate for Neymar to finish, though the goal was met by loud boos from around Parc des Princes.

PSG were then awarded a penalty after carving Bordeaux open again after Marcelo's raised-studs challenge on Wijnaldum just as he was about to pull the trigger from point-blank range. However, the decision was reversed by VAR for an offside call against Mbappe in the buildup.

Neymar and Mbappe both squandered good chances to fire in PSG's third on the break before Leandro Paredes sat two defenders down and smashed home on his own.

A weaving run from Messi ended with the diminutive Argentine firing just over from the edge of the box, while Bordeaux winger Alberth Elis had claims for a penalty turned down after he was impeded by Nuno Mendes.

Former PSG midfielder Yacine Adli unleashed a thunderous strike straight down the throat of Navas, and Presnel Kimpembe was fortunate not to have conceded a penalty for his rash challenge on Sekou Mara when clearing the rebound.

Messi rattled the Bordeaux woodwork late on and PSG's winning margin remained at three goals to go 15 points clear at the top of Ligue 1.

PSG player ratings

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Hakimi registered an assist / ALAIN JOCARD/GettyImages

Keylor Navas (GK) - 6/10 - Made a few key stops on his return to the starting lineup.

Achraf Hakimi (RB) - 6/10 - Roamed forward with menace and helped stretch play.

Marquinhos (CB) - 7/10 - Put Wednesday's woeful display behind him with a commanding performance from the back here.

Presnel Kimpembe (CB) - 5/10 - Looked quite erratic when called into action, flying into challenges with unnecessary aggression.

Nuno Mendes (LB) - 5/10 - While one of PSG's bright sparks this season, Mendes' inexperience has been glaring as of late.

2. Midfielders

Paredes' strike was excellent / ALAIN JOCARD/GettyImages

Danilo Pereira (CM) - 5/10 - Wasteful in possession but at least provided good energy.

Leandro Paredes (CM) - 7/10 - Kept play ticking though was embarrassingly outpaced at times. Did ever so well to grab PSG's third, it has to be said.

Georginio Wijnaldum (CM) - 6/10 - His assist was well-taken but he was otherwise on the periphery of the match (as per).

3. Forwards

Kylian Mbappe (RW) - 8/10 - Really tried to make things happen on an emotional day back at home and took his goal well.

Lionel Messi (CF) - 7/10 - His best contributions came when zipping the ball quickly with his teammates. Continues to lack a burst of pace and cutting edge, however.

Neymar (LW) - 7/10 - Did some step-overs on the halfway line and scored with a poacher's finish, all while being hassled by his own supporters. Get you a man who can do it all.

4. Substitutes

Abdou Diallo (LB, 84' for Mendes) - 6/10

Julian Draxler (CM, 88' for Wijnaldum) - N/A

Thilo Kehrer (RB, 88' for Hakimi) - N/A
