Paris Saint-Germain Issue Neymar Update Following Calf Injury
Paris Saint-Germain has released an update regarding Neymar's calf injury, which could keep him out of Brazil's upcoming fixtures.
The Brazilian pulled up with a muscle strain partway through his side's 2-0 victory over Stade Reims this weekend but still managed to complete 90 minutes.
However, PSG have now provided an update on their star man's fitness, confirming that his condition would be monitored closely.
"After feeling some tightness in his calf during Sunday's match, he has received reassuring test results. His condition will be reviewed again in the next 48 hours," an official statement on the club's website read.
Neymar has experienced a hectic start to the Ligue 1 season. He missed his side's opening game as he was in self-isolation and he was sent off the following weekend for his part in a multi-player brawl against Marseille.
After serving a two game suspension, Reims was his first game back and he will be frustrated to have picked up a knock. Thanks to his injury, Neymar featuring for Brazil in just over a week's time is in doubt. The Seleção begin their World Cup qualification campaign against Bolivia on 10 October and will be desperate for their talisman to be available.
Neymar is not the only injury complaint that Thomas Tuchel has to contend with. Juan Bernat is currently recovering from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and underwent a successful surgery on Tuesday morning.
Former Everton man Idrissa Gueye and Thilo Kehrer are also suffering but both should be back to full fitness just after the international break. Tuchel will need a full strength squad as PSG look to recover from a poor start to the season by their own sky high standards. They currently sit seventh in the table, having already lost twice.
