The Paris Saint-Germain lineup that should start against Manchester City
By Mitch Wilks
Having finished runners up last season and knocked out the team that beat them in that final already this campaign, Paris Saint-Germain must win the Champions League.
For all the money spent and all the efforts to try and become Europe's number one, this feels like their best opportunity yet. The issue? Manchester City sit in the same spot.
When the two collide on Wednesday, stakes will be higher than ever. Les Parisiens need this final and they must use the home advantage afforded to them in the first leg wisely.
Here's how Mauricio Pochettino's side could set up.
1. Goalkeeper & defenders
Keylor Navas (GK) - The Costa Rican swept up Champions Leagues for fun with Real Madrid and has been immense again this season for PSG. Navas is perhaps the most underrated goalkeeper around right now.
Alessandro Florenzi (RB) - Experience prevails in this one; the 30-year-old Italian starts ahead of Colin Dagba with City so strong in attack.
Marquinhos (CB) - It remains touch and go whether or not Marquinhos will have recovered in time to make the match. He is back in training though, and if he's available, he has to play.
Presnel Kimpembe (CB) - The Frenchman continues to impress for PSG and will be much more at ease should his usual partner return to the field.
Abdou Diallo (LB) - Diallo has stepped up in the absence of Juan Bernat and, if deemed fit, could boost his stock massively with a good performance here.
2. Midfielders
Marco Verratti (DM) - Verratti provides his side with supreme quality and control in possession from deeper areas and needs a big game to help stifle City's midfield.
Idrissa Gueye (DM) - The former Everton man played a key role in ensuring PSG edged past Bayern Munich in the quarter final and will be deployed to do the same again.
Julian Draxler (AM) - Out of contract in the summer, a European semi final presents a big opportunity for Draxler to impress ahead of a new challenge next season.
3. Forwards
Angel Di Maria (RW) - Di Maria doesn't have too many friends in the red side of Manchester, but if he plays a key part in knocking Manchester City out of the Champions League, it might relieve tensions a little bit.
Kylian Mbappe (ST) - Expect a bit of rotation among the front four, but Kylian Mbappe will lead the charge for PSG despite an injury scare at the weekend. The Frenchman bagged a brace against Metz and has four goals from his last three games.
Neymar (LW) - The man Manchester City's defenders should be having kittens about. Neymar has been at his electrifying best in the Champions League this season and could be about to collect some more ankles for fun.
