Paul Pogba's agent insists midfielder wasn't to blame for Man Utd struggles

Paul Pogba's agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has put the Frenchman's struggles at Manchester United down to injuries and the club being in a 'transitional' phase.

Pogba rejoined Man Utd from Juventus in an £89m move in 2016, but while there were some high points, his second spell at the club was largely a disappointing one.

The Red Devils won just two trophies in that time and the midfielder, whom many hoped would lead them back to the top, was often on the sidelines due to myriad of injury concerns.

Pogba was often criticised for his attitude and performances levels while at Old Trafford, but Pimenta has insisted that his client wasn't at fault for the issues at the club:

"Paul was playing all the time for Manchester United when he was not injured. When he was injured, that was something else. He did not choose to be injured. But he played when he was not injured," she told the Telegraph.

"Now I think Manchester United is going through a transitional phase...United is going through a restructuring phase and I think Paul was part of that phase. They are still going through it and they will make it, I have no doubt, but Paul was in the middle of it."

Pimenta admits that her client didn't achieve as much as he had hoped to at Old Trafford, but says that's not his fault and that he still has a lot of love for the club.

"Paul made a choice of the heart, he really wanted to go back to United. The happiness he felt going back was like home. So I am sure it was the right choice," she added.

"Now were there expectations for more trophies and more achievements? Yes, there was. But they didn’t come. But I think when things don’t happen it’s best to take joint responsibility when there is joint responsibility. You have to acknowledge it. But I don’t think Paul is to blame for things not going as we would have liked them to have gone, right?"
