PFA Vertu Motors WSL Fans' Player of the Month - March nominees
By 90min Staff
90min is the home of the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Award for the 2022/23 season.
Each month, you can vote for your favourite players across five divisions of English football, for the chance to win incredible prizes, including the opportunity to present the award to the winning player.
Your WSL nominees for March are...
1. Kenza Dali (Aston Villa)
Appearances: 3
Goals: 2
Kenza Dali continues to have an outstanding season with an Aston Villa side that won all three of its WSL games in March to cement their grip on fifth place and even cut into the gap to the top four.
The France international was arguably the best player on the pitch in a statement 2-0 away win over table rivals Everton, scoring the early opener.
She was a creative spark in another impressive away win over West Ham, before getting on the scoresheet again as Villa finished March by thrashing Leicester 5-0 at Villa Park on Women's Football Weekend.
2. Rachel Daly (Aston Villa)
Appearances: 3
Goals: 3
Assists: 1
Rachel Daly is giving herself the best possible chance of starting for England at this summer's World Cup, such has been her form for Aston Villa - and March was more of the same.
The 31-year-old made direct goal contributions in each of Villa's WSL wins during the month, kicking off with an assist for the opener against Everton.
She followed that up with one against West Ham and then two more against Leicester to keep her firmly in Golden Boot contention.
3. Caitlin Foord (Arsenal)
Appearances: 3
Goals: 3
Assists: 1
Arsenal have been dealt some rotten luck this season with injuries to their two best attackers, but the form of wide forward Caitlin Foord in March at least helped that soften that ongoing blow.
The Australian was on target to kill off Arsenal's WSL win over Liverpool in the first half and laid on an assist for a similarly decisive goal in the 4-0 demolition of Reading.
In the north London derby on Women's Football Weekend, she rose to the occasion again by netting the second and fourth Gunners goals.
4. Hayley Ladd (Man Utd)
Appearances: 3
Goals: 1
Clean sheets: 1
Manchester United's midfield enforcer often goes under the radar compared to some her more famous teammates, but her performances in March were vital to finishing the month top of the WSL table.
Ladd dominated in midfield, allowing United to run up the scorel-line against Leicester. She also battled hard in what was a very close game against title rivals Chelsea.
But a 4-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford showcased the other side of her game as well, finishing a fine team move.
5. Khadija Shaw (Man City)
Appearances: 3
Goals: 5
Already the PFA Vertu Motors WSL Fans' Player of the Month for January, Khadija Shaw is nominated yet again this season after her five goals powered Manchester City to three more wins.
The prolific Jamaican netted a hat-trick as City beat Tottenham to begin the month and further staking her claim for the Golden Boot.
Both City goals in a 2-1 victory against Brighton, including an 89th minute winner, took her to 26 in all competitions and a new club record for most goals in a single season.
6. Leah Williamson (Arsenal)
Appearances: 3
Goals: 1
Clean sheets: 2
Leah Williamson showed her versatility in March, giving top class performances for Arsenal both in the centre of defence and the centre of midfield as a result of enforced reshuffles.
It was a commanding defensive display in a 2-0 win over Liverpool to start with, followed by a step up into midfield as the Gunners dismantled Reading to win 4-0, with Williamson scoring in that one.
She was back in defence for the north London derby but still registered an assist for the opening goal scored by Stina Blackstenius.
