PFA Vertu Motors WSL Fans' Player of the Month - November nominees
By 90min Staff
90min is the home of the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Award for the 2022/23 season.
Each month, you can vote for your favourite players across five divisions of English football, for the chance to win incredible prizes, including the opportunity to present the award to the winning player.
Your WSL nominees for November are...
1. Danielle Carter (Brighton)
Appearances: 2
Goals: 3
Assists: 1
Brighton bounced back from the shock 8-0 defeat to Tottenham at the end of October - manager Hope Powell stepped down after that one - to record an impressive November in the circumstances.
Just a week after the Spurs game, Danielle Carter scored twice in the first 20 minutes away against a strong West Ham side, setting the wheels in motion for a thrilling 5-4 victory.
In Brighton's only other WSL game of the month, Carter scored again against Liverpool to help secure a point in a 3-3 draw.
2. Rachel Daly (Aston Villa)
Appearances: 2
Goals: 4
Assists: 0
Rachel Daly is thriving as a WSL 'number nine'. In two Aston Villa games in November, she doubled her league tally for the season.
The England international's prolific start to the campaign had slightly slowed by mid-October, yet she went on to score Villa's only goal in a win over Liverpool once November began.
Daly then scored all three Villa goals in a 3-1 victory against Reading to make it a perfect month for both her and the team.
3. Lauren James (Chelsea)
Appearances: 2
Goals: 1
Assists: 0
Lauren James has come into her own this season after being afforded time to manage her fitness upon first re-joining Chelsea in 2021.
The 21-year-old rose to the occasion against former club Manchester United and scored in a big test for the Blues when November began.
James also impressed in a 3-0 Chelsea win over Tottenham at a sold-out Stamford Bridge, winning a penalty scored by Guro Reiten.
4. Sam Kerr (Chelsea)
Appearances: 2
Goals: 2
Assists: 1
It hadn't been the best start to the season by Sam Kerr's usual world class standards, but since a four-goal against Vllaznia in the Champions League in October, her domestic form has returned as well.
The Australian was deadly clinical as Chelsea beat Manchester United, firing the Blues ahead in what had been a tight and even game for the first hour. She then set up a killer second for Lauren James only moments later.
Kerr followed that up with another opening goal in Chelsea's more comfortable 3-0 win against Tottenham later in the month.
5. Alessia Russo (Man Utd)
Appearances: 2
Goals: 2
Assists: 0
Alessia Russo missed most of October because of injury but picked up where she left off, starting twice for Manchester United in November and making a big impact in both games.
The England star gave United a fighting chance of mounting a comeback against Chelsea with a clinical finish in that defeat.
She then went on to give a match-winning performance against Arsenal, scoring the late decider at the Emirates Stadium in a momentous and landmark victory for her club.
6. Khadija Shaw (Man City)
Appearances: 2
Goals: 2
Assists: 1
Khadija Shaw kept the goals coming for Manchester City in November, netting each time she took to the pitch in back-to-back wins.
She has had no trouble filling the boots of the retired Ellen White this season and took her WSL tally to seven as City comfortably beat Reading.
Shaw was then directly involved in both goals in the subsequent 2-1 win over Everton. She gave the Toffees problems all day with her movement and set up the first before scoring the winner herself for goal number eight.
