PFA Vertu Motors WSL Fans' Player of the Month - September nominees
By 90min Staff
90min is the home of the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Award for the 2022/23 season.
Each month, you can vote for your favourite players across five divisions of English football, for the chance to win incredible prizes, including the opportunity to present the award to the winning player.
Your WSL nominees for September are...
1. Kenza Dali (Aston Villa)
Appearances: 2
Goals: 1
Assists: 1
France international Kenza Dali made an ambitious Aston Villa her third WSL club over the summer and is already having an enormous impact.
The former PSG star was a creative spark as Villa shocked Manchester City on the delayed opening weekend of the season and also scored a crucial goal herself that put her team back level after dropping 3-2 behind.
In a tight game of fewer chances against Leicester, she also grabbed a late assist that made sure of the 2-0 victory.
2. Rachel Daly (Aston Villa)
Appearances: 2
Goals: 3
Assists: 0
The curious case of Rachel Daly has come to the WSL, a starting full-back for England but a prolific goalscorer at club level.
Aston Villa have already reaped the rewards of permanently bringing Daly back to English football, with two goals straight off the bat against Manchester City and relentless pressing from the front.
She then scored a third of the season a week later to get the ball rolling for Villa's follow up win over Leicester.
3. Fran Kirby (Chelsea)
Appearances: 3
Goals: 3
Assists: 0
It hasn't been the easiest start to the new season for Chelsea, but Fran Kirby has shown impressive consistency by netting in all three of their games.
Kirby missed most of the second half of last season was a fatigue problem but returned to her best form for England at Euro 2022 and has now kept that going at club level when others are yet to fire on all cylinders.
The 29-year-old scored a well-taken goal against Liverpool that ultimately counted for nothing but then directly contributed to back-to-back wins.
4. Maya Le Tissier (Manchester United)
Appearances: 2
Goals: 2
Assists: 1
Maya Le Tissier has come straight into the Manchester United starting XI at the heart of the defence and helped her new team keep two clean sheets.
But it is going the other way that the promising 20-year-old has grabbed the headlines, taking just four minutes of her debut to find the net.
Le Tissier doubled her tally in that game against Reading in the first half and went on to play a defence-splitting assist that paved the way for a crucial United away win over West Ham.
5. Kim Little (Arsenal)
Appearances: 2
Goals: 1
Assists: 0
Back from a summer loan at OL Reign, Kim Little scored the first goal of the new WSL season when she netted in the first half of Arsenal's Friday night win over Brighton to kick everything off.
But it is not all about goals from the Scottish veteran. She dictated the play against Brighton, before a different kind of performance against Tottenham.
Little rightly earned plaudits for her performance on the defensive side of the ball in the derby game, giving the Gunners a great foundation.
6. Beth Mead (Arsenal)
Appearances: 2
Goals: 3
Assists: 2
Beth Mead hasn't taken her foot off the gas pedal since the summer when she was named player of the tournament at Euro 2022 and also took home the golden boot trophy.
The England star already has five direct goal contributions to her name in just two WSL games so far this season.
That tally accounts for either scoring or assisting more than half of the total goals scored by a prolific Arsenal side.
