Roma unveiling Jose Mourinho as their new manager on Tuesday afternoon was a Randy Orton RKO to the entire footballing world.

Mere hours after the Serie A side confirmed that long-serving boss Paulo Fonseca would be moving on at the end of the season, out of nowhere the Special One's grinning face was plastered all over their social media channels.

His arrival may have been unexpected, but the Mourinho formula for recruitment has been formulaic for some time now. Mou struggles to get down with the kids and likes to work with established names more receptive to his conservative ideas.

Here are some of the experienced heads he will be pressuring the club to bring to the Italian capital this summer.

Silver foxes have to stick together, which is the only reason this transfer makes perfect sense.

Inter's Kolarov may be 35 - 36 in November - but he has still racked up a few appearances for the Scudetto winners this season. Returning to Roma to join the Mourinho revolution would the perfect way to see out his career.

2. Erik Lamela

Erik Lamela's goal in the north London derby this season should be enough to earn him a contract for life at Tottenham.

However, with the Argentine spending close to a decade at Spurs he could be after a change of scenery. Mourinho seemed to take a liking to Lamela during his time at the club as well. Time to bring him home, Jose.

This one is actually 100% happening isn't it?

Mourinho has signed Matic twice before and he will no doubt make it a hat-trick in the summer.

4. Diego Costa

No-one took a gamble on free agent Diego Costa in January despite reports linking him with moves to Wolves and Tottenham.

Perhaps his reunion with Mourinho was just delayed rather than aborted. It would be a free transfer anyway, what could possibly go wrong?

5. Ashley Young

Ashley Young had a topsy turvy time at Manchester United under Mourinho. Towards the tail-end of his time at the club though, the wide man was in great form.

Who cares that he's coming into the second half of his thirties? Young will be available on a free in the summer and Mourinho will find the reliable wing-back too enticing to turn down.

6. Marouane Fellaini

Jose Mourinho's fervent commitment to Marouane Fellaini during his time at Old Trafford drove many United fans up the wall.

The Belgian only has seven months left to run on his deal in China and will surely jump at the chance to link back up with his biggest fan.

7. David Luiz

David Luiz was expected to pen fresh terms at Arsenal a few months back but with a deal yet to be agreed, could Mourinho swoop in?

The Brazilian has not graced Serie A before, meaning Roma fans are in for one hell of a ride if he does arrive on a free in the summer.

8. Sami Khedira

Sami Khedira is another player right up Mourinho's street. He defended him from criticism during his time at Real - something he does not always do, as Luke Shaw can attest - with the German confessing that he remains in touch with his former boss.

Khedira is currently at relegation threatened Hertha Berlin, but with his contract up in the summer he might be tempted back to Italy sooner that he might have expected.
