The Premier League clubs who should be looking to sign Tammy Abraham

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has struggled to nail down a regular place in the team this season and while it appears the future is bright under Thomas Tuchel, he's clearly not a key part of the German's plans.

The 23-year-old scored 18 goals last season but following the summer arrivals of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz for a combined £119.7m, he's gradually fallen down the pecking order.

He's already proven he is capable of scoring goals regularly at Premier League level and at this stage in his career, he needs to be playing first-team football. There will be no shortage of clubs interested in Abraham if a decision is made which leads to him moving on from Stamford Bridge, but it begs the question - who should be looking at him?

Here, 90min runs through the Premier League clubs who should be keeping a close eye.

1. Crystal Palace

The upcoming summer is likely to be one of significant change at Selhurst Park. Manager Roy Hodgson's contract may not be renewed, but more significantly - for Abraham at least - it's likely that Christian Benteke won't be sticking around either.

The Belgian has netted just six times this season despite playing regularly, and Palace need somebody capable of providing more ammunition.

A move from Chelsea to south London would see Abraham move just nine miles down the road, and he'd also have the chance to link up with Wilfried Zaha and Ebere Eze - two wonderfully creative talents who could lay chances on a plate if the style of football is right.

2. Arsenal

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has been linked with a move away from north London this summer as the 29-year-old is approaching the final year of his contract.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's form, meanwhile, has been hit and miss to say the least, and it's clear that head coach Mikel Arteta doesn't see his captain as a central striker.

Abraham's goal record is not as spectacular as Arsenal may like it to be, but he's showed decent physicality in the past and could be the man to hold up the ball and bring the club's creative midfielders into play. Whether or not he'd be allowed to join a rival is another story...

3. West Ham

West Ham have enjoyed a fantastic season despite having to make do without a recognised centre forward for a decent chunk of time.

David Moyes' side are surprisingly in contention for a Champions League spot, but even if they end up in the Europa League or Europa Conference League, that will be some achievement for a side who barely avoided relegation during 2019/20.

Abraham would be a significant upgrade on Michail Antonio, and could be the man to take on the goalscoring burden that has largely been shared among West Ham's creative midfielders. Being in Europe is a must though for the move to appeal, you'd imagine.

4. Leicester City

Jamie Vardy is no spring chicken these days, even though the 34-year-old continues to perform superbly at the highest level.

The second half of 2020/21 has been a challenge though, with Vardy's strike partner Kelechi Iheanacho taking on the mantle of chief goal threat. Because of his goals, Leicester are still performing well - and look to be a shoo-in for Champions League qualification.

Working under Brendan Rodgers, Abraham would be at a club clearly going places - and he'd likely back himself to reclaim his goalscoring form of 2019/20 if the club keep hold of James Maddison and Youri Tielemans while continuing to strengthen.

5. Wolves

Wolves have been without Raul Jimenez since November after he suffered a serious head injury against Arsenal.

The Mexican has not yet recovered, and Nuno Espirito Santo's side have struggled in his absence. Willian Jose, signed on loan in January, hasn't lit the blue touch paper, and young £36m signing Fabio Silva really has struggled to adapt to life in England.

European football won't be on offer at Molineux next season, but Abraham could be the marquee signing that reinvigorates Wolves. Is that enough to tempt him? Maybe not.

6. Aston Villa

Aston Villa splashed out £28m on Ollie Watkins last summer, which was a real statement of intent from the club's owners about where they want to take the club.

To date, he's looked like a decent capture - but Villa know they don't have an awful lot in reserve if he's not available, despite Wesley's imminent return to fitness.

Abraham is a familiar face at Villa Park after a very successful loan spell, and there's no doubting that the club's fans would welcome him back with open arms. The fact he's played for the club before could stand Villa in good stead, as would keeping hold of Jack Grealish.
